We train hundreds of dogs and their owners each year in our large, indoor training facility.  Classes currently range from Puppy Class, Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Obedience classes. Or we can train you to train your dog for various A.K.C. Titles in our Drop Off Training Bootcamp Program.  We also train dogs for hunting.  Although we offer many classes throughout the week that should fit into even the busiest schedule, we also offer individual private training sessions.  Our courses are veterinarian approved and conducted by our highly-qualified staff.

At First Place Dog Training, we use positive reinforcement to teach dogs and their owners appropriate behaviors, manners, obedience commands as well as sit, stay, down, come, etc.  There are many places that still teach dog obedience training with older harsher methods, we do not believe or utilize those techniques.  We find that the dogs respond much better to praise and reward than to other methods.  It is easier on the dog, as well as on the owner using positive training techniques.

We also have a full-service dog boarding and training kennel at our McHenry Illinois location.  The indoor kennel is climate controlled and each dog is given plenty of exercise each day during its stay. We offer a "board and train" doggy drop off boot camp, where we can train your dog for you during their stay with us and then train you, the owner after you pick up your puppy or dog. Schedule your dog for boarding or training while you go on vacation with the comfort that he or she is in good hands.

PUPPY  COLLEGE  2 - 3 hour class sessions.  Puppy obedience and behavior class.

This course is designed for a Puppy’s mom or dad that would like to be able to do a six week program in only 2 sessions.  This class will be held Saturday in two 3 hour sessions two weeks apart.  The first 3 hour  session will cover what would normally be weeks 1,2, & 3 of the puppy course all during this first 3 hour session.)  We will skip a week in order to allow you time to practice and progress your dog, then you will attend the final Saturday 3 hour session, which covers what would normally be weeks 4,5 and 6 of the puppy class.

The advantage of this course is travel times and gas with the rising costs of fuel.  2 - three hour class sessions versus 6 weekly 1 hour sessions. 
The course would start at 1 pm sharp and finish at 4 pm. You and your dog will come for an initial 3 hour session on Saturday, and we will cover weeks 1, 2 and 3 of the beginning class. We will take a week break in between sessions to allow you time to practice with your dogs, then you will attend the final 3 hour session which will cover weeks 4, 5, and 6 of the beginning class.
